Partnerships for a Better Yerba Buena
Yerba Buena Partnership is a nonprofit community benefit district that brings people together to enhance the downtown Yerba Buena neighborhood for all who live, work and visit. Since 2008, we have provided services and programs to help ensure that the neighborhood is clean, safe and welcoming. We serve an area emanating from Yerba Buena Gardens that stretches from Second to Fifth and Market to Perry streets. It is a dynamic destination that residents share with world-class museums, convention space, public gardens, educational institutions, and exceptional dining and entertainment.
Our areas of focus include:
- Implementing core clean and safe services
- Reinforcing the neighborhood as the City’s arts and cultural district
- Supporting small businesses
- Beautifying our streetscapes
- Advocating for and leveraging resources and support
Clean, Safe and Hospitality
Every day, 6am – 10pm, our Clean and Safe Team sweeps and steam-cleans sidewalks, removes graffiti, picks up litter, directs visitors to local businesses, conducts wellness checks for people in need and responds to neighborhood cleaning and safety issues.
Neighborhood Identity and Engagement
We work with partners to promote Yerba Buena’s identity as a cohesive, proud community recognized for its diverse economic base grounded in arts and culture, conventions and hospitality. Among these efforts are neighborhood marketing and branding initiatives, destination marketing and event support.
Economic Vitality
We strengthen Yerba Buena’s neighborhood economy through small business support, leasing connections, convention advocacy, attracting visitors and filling vacant retail spaces. The synergy between conventions, hotels, arts and cultural scene, restaurants and other businesses is vital to our sustained success and is transforming the neighborhood into one that flourishes day and night.
Public Space Improvements
Through partnerships, we create vibrant, beautiful public spaces that inspire connection, creativity and engagement. Our public space improvements include public art, lighting, dog parks, artful bike parking and public seating, and public space planning and advocacy.
Partnerships and Resources
Building upon our existing partnerships and securing new ones helps us sustain our strategic focus, maximize resources, and build community. We work with government agencies, residents, businesses, nonprofits, cultural institutions and many others to secure funding and collaborate on large and smaller neighborhood events, street parties, and activations, public realm improvements, events and clean and safe efforts. Additionally, our Community Benefit Fund provides grants to support events, public art, and activities that invigorate the neighborhood and create welcoming opportunities for residents, workers, and visitors.
