Day Dreamin' by Dre Sibayande is an ode to youthful imagination, a love letter to both the artist's inner child and his son, designed to inspire creativity and remind viewers of a time when imagination was fueled by comic books, cartoons, action figures, and imaginary friends. The mural brings a playful, nostalgic energy to the public art landscape of Yerba Buena.
This mural is part of a series of expansive murals along 4th Street by four Bay Area artists that transformed blank concrete walls along Yerba Buena Gardens into a tapestry of Yerba Buena’s and SoMa’s ethos in 2023-2024. The series includes Woven Kultura by Dee Jae Pa’este, Sanctorum by Mel Vera Cruz, Dito Kami by ChiChai, and Day Dreamin’ by Dre Sibayande.
