Experience a powerful public artwork at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA) titled "We fly for a liberated we, we rooted in flight" by Lukaza Branfman-Verissimo. This vibrant, large-scale installation spans three exterior sites around YBCA – the loading dock door, the entrance to the Third Street courtyard, and a series of doors at the corner of Third and Mission Streets. The artwork serves as a public invitation to join in a journey of collective flight and liberation, highlighting themes of care, safety, and support for Black, Indigenous, queer, Trans, non-binary, people of color, and all oppressed communities. As you explore the Yerba Buena neighborhood, discover these dynamic sections of the piece or step back to take in the full scope from across the street. It's a visually striking work that encourages reflection on collective action and soaring towards a more just future. This ongoing public art is commissioned by YBCA.
