We’re having a Modern Family Party!
To continue a San Francisco summer filled with Art here at Sentro Filipino, we are so pleased to present our upcoming exhibition, Modern Family Party.
Come party with us at our Opening Reception on Saturday, July 18 from 6-8PM at Sentro Filipino 🍾
Some words from our organizers:
As people from the Bay Area, we are accustomed to family parties—we like to celebrate. We come together to laugh, cry, yell, share our joys and accomplishments, and enjoy the company of those we hold dear. But what is a family?
Traditionally, family has been defined by blood or marriage. In modern society, however, the meaning of family has expanded to include the bonds we form through shared experience, care, and community. It is no longer limited by race, culture, or proximity. We create tribes built on solidarity, imagining new forms of kinship into the realm of possibility.
This gathering is a celebration of those evolving forms of family. The artists assembled here have shared stories, broken bread, and come together through a communal love of the arts. They have built relationships rooted in generosity, creativity, and mutual support. And this family extends beyond the artists themselves. Everyone who has come to experience these works, listen to their truths, and share in this moment is invited to celebrate, connect, and participate in the revelry.
Here, we honor artists from diverse backgrounds, each carrying histories woven into their identities and DNA. Together, they have created a tapestry that reflects the vibrancy and richness of the San Francisco Bay Area. As you view these works, take photographs, share a bite, enjoy a drink, exchange a story, offer a smile, or simply sit in a quiet moment, we invite you to recognize that you belong here.
Thank you for being part of this celebration.
