A massive, ephemeral artwork is being built in downtown San Francisco’s Yerba Buena neighborhood. Beyond Walls - by internationally acclaimed French-Swiss artist Saype - depicts giant intertwined hands painted on the ground symbolizing the longest human chain in the world, step-by-step, city-by-city. This temporary, biodegradable fresco will be created in Yerba Buena Gardens as an invitation to pause, to look, and to remember that we are linked.
Here are a few spots to watch the artwork take shape October 5-7 and take in the completed fresco for up to 10 days afterwards while it naturally biodegrades.
