Kimchi in a taco? Yes, please.
At a Korean table, cooking does not stop in the kitchen. Eating is interactive. Food is mixed, dipped, wrapped, and rolled right at the table. There is no wrong way to eat, only more delicious ways. You taste. You choose.
Join June Jo and Philip Lee for an adventure through the six tongue tastes, all in celebration of Korean food culture.
We open with a read-aloud of Kimchi Taco Time, June Jo’s brand-new award-winning book coming out on October 6. Then comes a flavor adventure. The smell of Christmas. Hot water becoming broth. Chili-spicy versus radish-spicy, which are not the same spicy and your nose knows it. All six tongue tastes, including the one most people can’t name.
Then everyone makes Awesome Sauce! Kewpie mayo meets Korean gochujang, and you take over: spicier or sweeter, milder or bolder, until it tastes like you. Dip a vegetable. Wrap with a vegetable. Every sauce comes out different, because every eater is different. Your taste is yours. It has a story. And you are the author of your own delicious.
This event is free and open to the public, but capacity is limited. RSVP is required. Tickets for the RM x SFMOMA exhibition are currently sold out on this date.
