Robert Hightower’s breakout solo show, where silence ends, trauma speaks, and the truth shows up raw, honest, and loud in paint.

After nearly three years away from solo exhibitions, Robert Hightower returns with his most personal body of work to date. One Time Talker is a visual reckoning—an exploration of silence, survival, and the emotional weight of what goes unsaid. These paintings are not just art objects; they are confessions. Each one traces back to moments where Robert learned to stay quiet, often through force, fear, or the belief that speaking up came with consequences.

The title itself is rooted in truth. “One Time Talker” was the name of a wooden paddle used as discipline in his childhood, a tool that made it clear: you only get told once. That legacy of silence lingers in the work, but so does the resistance. This isn’t a tidy comeback. It’s raw, unfiltered, and urgent. For anyone who’s ever been told to hold it in, this show is an invitation to let it out. This is what it looks like when silence finally breaks.

This is a two-part event:

  • Part 1: Opening Night Celebration — September 19, 5 PM to 11 PM
An evening to experience the full collection, connect, and celebrate the launch of this deeply personal show.
  • Part 2: Coffee Social, Curated Tours by Robert Hightower — September 20, 10AM to 6PM
A more intimate opportunity to engage with Robert directly. Enjoy coffee, take a private tour of the collection, and join a Q&A session where Robert will discuss the work, its meaning, and the journey behind it.
