Wednesday, November 5th | featuring Nicole Holmes of Broadbent Selections

Flatiron Wines & Spirits is delighted to welcome Nicole Holmes from Broadbent Selections (broadbent.com, @broadbentselections), for an evening showcasing a side of South African wine that challenges expectations. Founded in 1996 by Bartholomew Broadbent with a focus on family-owned wineries and wines that come from the heart, Broadbent Selections has built a portfolio that emphasizes quality, personality, and authentic expression.

South Africa's wine scene has long been associated with approachable, value-driven bottles—and while the country certainly delivers on that front, there's another story to tell. This tasting focuses on hand-picked selections that showcase the country's ability to produce serious, age-worthy wines from some of its most respected estates. These are wines that demonstrate South Africa's growing reputation for world-class quality across multiple varietals and regions.

Nicole has curated a lineup that spans three distinct South African regions and styles: a refined Chardonnay from Robertson's De Wetshof estate, a Pinotage from Beaumont in Bot River that showcases what South Africa's signature red grape can achieve in the right hands, and a premium Cabernet Sauvignon from Delaire Graff in Stellenbosch that competes on the global stage. Together, these wines reveal the depth and sophistication that define modern South African winemaking at its highest level.

This is an opportunity to move beyond preconceptions and discover why collectors and critics are increasingly paying attention to South Africa's top producers. Nicole's knowledge of the Broadbent portfolio and these specific estates makes her the perfect guide for understanding what sets these wines apart.

Line-up:

2024 De Wetshof Robertson Vallon Chardonnay

2022 Beaumont Bot River Jackals Pinotage

2020 Delaire Graff Stellenbosch Botmaskop Cabernet Sauvignon
