"New Queer Cinema x Trans New Weird: Who Owns Our Image?" is a screening event featuring Todd Haynes’ *Poison* (1991) and Vera Drew’s *The People’s Joker* (2022). This Frameline and YBCA presentation invites attendees to explore how these films defiantly recontextualize classic genres and copyrighted characters to forge new, transgressive representations of queer and trans life. The event highlights an emerging "Trans New Weird" cinema movement, pushing LGBTQ+ art forward by challenging conventions and fostering a unique embodied identification between viewer and film.
