This screening event, part of the "New Queer Cinema x Trans New Weird" series, investigates the question "Who Owns Our Image?" by exploring defiant and new representations of queer life in film. Attendees will experience how Todd Haynes’ *Poison* and Vera Drew’s *The People’s Joker* twist American narrative conventions and reclaim pop mythology to tell diverse queer and trans origin stories. The series highlights an emerging generation of primarily trans filmmakers redefining the viewer's relationship with film through "embodied identification," renewing queer cinema's transgressive roots, and pushing LGBTQ+ art forward. Your ticket also includes gallery admission.
