Better Market Street will deliver transformative transportation, streetscape and safety improvements along 2.2. miles of Market Street between Octavia Boulevard and The Embarcadero.  The project will revitalize and improve San Francisco’s busiest pedestrian street, busiest bicycle thoroughfare and busiest transit corridor, making it safer and easier for people to get around and creating a vibrant and inclusive destination where people want to live, work and visit.Specifically, the project proposes a sidewalk level bicycle lane, private vehicle restrictions, streetscape improvements and extensive critical state-of-good-repair improvements, including the replacement of aging sewers, water mains, traffic signals, transit tracks and overhead wires.

111 Minna Gallery Presents
Walking, Talking, Stalking
A Guy Colwell Retrospective

Opening Reception Friday Jan. 12, 2018
5-11:30pm (Through Feb 24)
“Not Exactly Peaceable Kingdom” by Guy Colwell | Acrylic on Canvas | 52″ x 66″ | 2012

111 Minna Gallery eagerly awaits the introduction of it’s first exhibit of 2018, “Walking, Talking, Stalking” a retrospect show by Berkeley artist, Guy Colwell.Consisting of over 100 original paintings, drawings and illustrations from the 1990’s to present, the show offers a broad and poignant insight of the artists creative history, vision and social outlook. A gifted master of medium and technique, Colwell delivers unwavering individuality through a punctuated style all his own. Both retro and modern, the artist’s aesthetic and content is challenging, honest, provocative and disturbingly true to life.

“Okapi Lobby” by Guy Colwell | Acrylic on Canvas | 36″ x 50″ | 2006

“This artwork is outward looking. Confronting the world as it is and engaging in public discourse about it, are more important than exposing the inner self or producing beautiful spots of color to decorate walls. It is artwork that looks at the human world as we find it now in the early 21st century. It is artwork that looks at the natural world as it is, threatened and threatening. And, at its crucial heart, this artwork is an exploration of the relationship, or more precisely, the alienation that exists between these two worlds. These pictures from the early 1990’s until the present should each be read as an essay about the state of life from the perspective of one big primate at this moment in time.” – Guy Colwell
